You are never too old to learn..

So yesterday was a bad day. It started with me not getting out of bed to run. From there it was just downhill. It seemed like nothing clicked. Like our normal routine was shot. I would try to do something with the kids and one or more would buck and not want to do it. Or I would try to clean up a little bit while the kids were happily playing, only to have one of them need me the moment a dish rag was in my hand. It was just a typical Monday blahness.

So today I got up, had my quiet time and then ran. It was great. It's amazing how just starting off the day in a different way can make it better. So this morning after everyone was up and fed I put on the VBS CD and told them to listen, sing, dance, whatever to that and I was going to clean up. And when it was done we would go outside to play. The CD is about 20 minutes long so it was perfect. I got the kitchen and bathrooms cleaned up and some clothes started. By the time it went off we threw on some play clothes and out the door we went. Jon Kent wanted to ride his bike to the neighborhood park. It's about a half mile to 3/4 of a mile away. I told him it was a long way to walk, but he still wanted to. So he rode his bike, Zoey drove the Jeep and I pulled Nathan in the wagon. The last leg of the trip is pretty much up hill, so I ended up lugging the wagon with a bike inside it and Nathan on my hip. I was soaked in sweat by the time we got there. Did I mention it was 10:15am and already 90 some odd degrees out? No? Well, it was. So the kids played for a bit and there were other kids there too so that made it almost worth it... Then it was time to trek back. I was sooo not looking forward to that. But we made it. We were all sweating and hot and tired and ready to sit in the A/C!

So what are the lessons I learned? Always start your day off with something positive. Put in a CD so the kids can sing and dance while you clean. And lastly, don't walk to the park when it's heat stroke weather outside.

Mind if I ask what time you are getting up to run? Dare I ask...your going to say 5ish right?? That is just way to early for me to function.

No, actually it's around 6:15. It's still too dark before then. And it's still cool and hasn't gotten hot yet. :O)

You're a much braver woman than I! :)

Everything I do with the kids outside is either early morning or early evening. I just don't tolerate humidity and heat well at all.

XOXO

Man I so wouldn't have even attempted the walk in the heat! I would have said "Nope!" and piled them in the van...lol
