Nathan's 4th Birthday Party

Nathan has been into all things Angry Birds.  He wants to play it all the time.  So after looking around Pinterest I found a lot of different ideas.  A friend of mine made the cake and my daddy came up from Alabama to help with the decorating and other festivities.  It was a good time and Nathan loved it all.

What was old is new again!

During the kids' spring break they headed to Alabama for a few days while Kent and I got some much needed "parental R&R".  We went out on a couple of dates, watched movies, laughed, talk about important things and not important things, and we refurbished an old antique china cabinet that was once my great grandmother's.  It was a long process that I even got fired from (you know it's true, Kent!), but it was worth it for the end results.  Kent did a great job and now our 10 year old wedding china is finally on display!

Getting it sanded down and ready to paint

Priming

Another coat of primer and I am pretty sure this is when I got fired.

Primed and painted with all new hardware!

The end results! Beautiful!

Easter 2012

I am so thankful that Easter to our family isn't about the bunny or the eggs that he supposedly hides.  While we do enjoy doing those things, it's not the reason.  We celebrate Easter because Jesus was crucified on a cross for our sins (and yours) and 3 days later rose from the dead.  He was dead, but He is now alive and living with our Heavenly Father.  Because of Him I, too can be live forever with my Heavenly Father!

We had a wonderful Easter weekend.  Nathan's birthday was part of the celebration.  Our Sunday school class had an egg hunt where all the kids were told of Jesus' death and resurrection and then they got to hunt for eggs.  That afternoon we dyed eggs with the kids and even nibbled on a few as well.  We did Easter baskets that morning before going on the egg hunt.  Sunday we enjoyed a wonderful service at church.  That afternoon we had a relaxed lunch and had a "private" family egg hunt.  The kids had a great time.  It was a wonderful weekend to spend as a family.  Talking about Jesus and making memories.

Happy 4th Birthday, Nathan!!

My baby, the last from my womb.. is 4 today.  When did that happen?  When did he start looking more like a little boy than my fat cheek baby?  And why does it all have to happen so fast?  I am just not ready to let go of my baby.  I'm not sure there is ever a point where I will be able to either.

Nathan, today you are 4.  You were spoiled with whatever you wanted all day long.  You got Angry Bird toys from us and you got to eat at a Japanese restaurant.  You loved watching them cook in front of us.  And yes, we did embarrass you by having them sing "Happy Birthday" to you.  (We have to get our kicks while we can!)  You had a great day and I am glad that you enjoyed yourself.  You are growing way too quickly for my liking, but I am thankful that you ARE growing and are healthy and happy.  I love you my sweet baby boy.  I am so glad that God gave you as a gift to me.  Happy Birthday!!

April Fools.. or maybe not.

Three years ago I was at home tending to my small herd when Kent called from work.. That conversation went a little something like this..

April Fools!

What a ride it's been!

It's dusty in here!

I have no idea why I don't update much... Ha, wait.. yeah I do.  It's called Facebook and Pinterest.  Facebook gets my family updates, pictures, random sayings of my kids, etc.  Pinterest gets my free time.  I love looking at all the yummy recipes, cute craft ideas, random ideas that make me think, "Why didn't I think of that?" and all the cute outfit ideas.  Those are my excuses and I am sticking to them!

Let's see.. what has been going on since the last time I wrote.  We finished up another year of Upward.  Our week nights are somewhat freed up and our Saturdays are free (for now).  It was a great year.  I have already been thinking of new cheers and routines for next season.  The anniversary of my momma's death came around for the 2nd time.  It was hard, but easier than the first year.  I still go through my bouts of crying, then getting sad, getting down and even getting mad.  Thankfully my joy lies with my Savior.  The same Savior that saved my momma many years ago.  My hope lies in Him and knowing that because of Him I will see my momma again.  Our winter has been very mild so that means we have spent a lot of time outside.  On March 16th Kent and I celebrated 10 years of wedded bliss.  It still blows my mind that we have already been married a decade.  It seriously doesn't seem like it!  In the last 2-3 weeks we have enjoyed weather in the 70s and 80s.  It's been wonderful!  Makes me long for the kids to hurry up and get out of school so that we can enjoy all day playing and being care free.  Speaking of care free.. the kids' spring break is in about 10 days or so.  They are going to Alabama for a few days and Kent and I are going to enjoy some alone time.  We have a few projects lined up, a date night or two planned and sleeping late. :)  Looking forward to it.. if you couldn't already tell.

So yeah, that's about it.  Now, to find time to post some pictures...

Proud doesn't even begin to describe it

Jon Kent was selected out of his entire first grade class to receive an award called the Celebration of Character award.  All the first grade teachers had to agree with one another on who the award went to.  Jon Kent's teacher nominated him and all the other teachers unanimously agreed that he should receive the award.  Here is the letter that Jon Kent's teacher wrote on his behalf:
