Blogging Too Much

Nathan is taking a marathon of a nap currently. What have I done with that time.. laundry, fixed lunch, laid with the kids and watched some TV.. and that's about it. Oh and blogged. Possibly too much. Need to make up for my weekend away. Yeah.. that's a good excuse.

My taking it off gadget on the right side is ticking me off. It seems to be increasing instead of decreasing. I could lie and say that I'm losing, but that wouldn't be any fun. I, at one point, was 2 pounds from my goal. Now I'm 10 pounds... TEN!! What is up with that? Stress, maybe? Laziness, probably. Chocolate, ding-ding-ding. We have a winner!

Bah!

Community

While we were up in South Carolina, we got to see first hand what it was like to live in a community. To actually know your neighbor and "talk over the fence". Granted we know our neighbors, obviously, as they are Kent's parents. But what we experienced this past weekend was different. We were all out in the yard, the kids were playing ball, riding bikes, running around, etc. and one of their neighbors just stopped by with a plate of brownies and chatted for a bit. Some other people drove by and waved. People taking an afternoon walk would waved and say hello as they passed by. I'm looking forward to that. To being able to make friends and have my kids play out in the yard with other neighborhood kids. I'm looking forward to being a part of a community. I'm looking forward to making it our home. I'm looking forward to just calling it our home instead of that town in South Carolina.

Not Me! Monday

This blog carnival is brought to you by MckMama. Feel free to head over and read about her Not Me! hoopla and all the others who also were totally not doing something or another.

Oh yes it is that time again. It's time to tell you all how I am perfectly not the most perfect mother, wife, friend, daughter or sister in the world. How I mess up royally on more than one occasion. It's time for some free therapy and time to spill the beans on what I certainly didn't do this week.

Jon Kent has a very strong sense of smell. Like train that boy to sniff out drugs or find a lost child, type smell. So with that in mind I do not use him to let me know when Nathan has poopie, because for the life of me my sense of smell is shot. He didn't on more than one occasion this week let me know that Nathan had poopied and needed to be changed. I mean really, who does that? Who uses their child as a poop detector? Certainly not me!

This weekend we met some of Kent's new coworkers. Who were all really nice. I did not let my youngest bundle of cuteness take a nap on a complete stranger, just because it meant I could take some shots of my eldest bundles of cuteness shoot down a water slide and fly into the air. Never would I let some stranger snuggle with any of my babies.

I did not let Nathan live off of goldfish crackers all day Saturday because it was easier to just let him eat that than it was to fight for him to eat what we were eating.

So.. since I know what I didn't do this week.. what did you not do either?

Home is where the heart is..

After this weekend spent up where our "new" home is going to be, the whole moving thing is starting to sink in and hit me hard. We went up to South Carolina to meet Kent's new boss and his family. Super, super nice people. They have three kids. A boy who is 6, another boy who is 4 and a girl who is 2. So they are all pretty close to the same ages as our three. They were wonderful to us. We met them Friday night, when out to eat and just had a good time. At first I was pretty timid. I'm like that. Don't make friends easily, takes me awhile to warm up, etc. But seriously, by the time we left that night I was able to talk and not feel *as much* anxiety about the whole meeting new people thing. Then Saturday Gary (new boss) took us around town and showed us the different communities and subdivisions. There was a lot to take in and it overwhelmed me. I was trying to remember everything and where all the different places were at, etc. I literally had a headache by the time we got back to his house. Zoey stayed with Gary's wife, Dana, and her kids while Kent, myself, Jon Kent (he was too shy to stay) and Nathan went out looking. Then we all piled up and went to Kent's new work's picnic. We met a lot of people there and they were all very nice. Very welcoming and encouraging. When we got back to the hotel we crashed.. or at least attempted to. Nathan wasn't liking the fact that he was in a pack-n-play and not in his bed. Plus the fact that we were in a one room hotel room. So yeah.. it took him awhile to go to sleep. Then today (Sunday) we went to church with Gary and his family. Then out to eat lunch and then headed back home. On the way up there it took us roughly 4-5 hours to get there. That was with stopping for lunch, potty breaks and a cranky baby. On the way home it took us 3 hours and 45 minutes, because the kids slept like almost 2 hours and then we just hit good traffic. We were all very happy to get back home.. or as Jon Kent said, "his old home". I'm looking forward to sleeping in my bed tonight. We go back up there in two weeks to house hunt. Things are starting to come together and if I'm to be really honest.. it's scary.

Signing off..

At least until Sunday. We are heading up to South Carolina tomorrow after lunch. We're just going to meet with Kent's new boss and his family. Maybe crash the "company" picnic and meet a few people. We are also going to check out some neighborhoods and just get a feel for this new town that will soon be our home. So.. until Sunday...

Lesson Time

This is what happens when you decide to get up in the middle of the night, scream, cry and just all around make sure the whole house knows you are not happy. And then, instead of sleeping in, you get up entirely too early.

You don't even get to finish your lunch!

26.. it's a lot like 25.

Friday, May 13, 1983, I was born into this world via c-section at approximately 9:45am. I was then taken to another hospital about an hour away because I was producing too much insulin. I didn't even have a name. Baby girl P_____ was my name for about 24 hours. I tend to favor Emily Elizabeth just a tad bit more. That was 26 years ago. It's hard to believe sometimes that I'm really this 'old'. I feel like I should still be 16. And here I am turning the corner and heading straight to my 30s.

Could someone please stop the car? I would like to get out now.

All in all today seemed just like any other day. Except.. I got presents. I got a gift card from my parents, flowers from my hubby, money from my in-laws and several other cards from friends. Kent is taking me shopping, to which there will be no sighs and no leaning on clothes racks. The kids also got me a card and signed it themselves. We also went out to eat at a local steakhouse and just enjoyed time spent as a family.

So, happy birthday to me. Here's hoping that time slows down.
